Option 1 :

1. First, you have to sign in with your Apple ID which you will need for a verification code. It will be sent to your Apple ID.
2. Now you have to enter your FileVault recovery key if needed. It is a long string of numbers and letters that you receive whenever you turned on FileVault. And, choose to create a recovery key in place of allowing your iCloud account to unlock your disk.
3. Select a user you want to reset the password and click next.
4. Enter your new password and click next.
5. After all, when the password reset process has been finished, click restart.

Option 2:

Reset-password through your Apple ID

If your Mac restarts, then you go with the option above but if your Mac does not start. I will ask for your Apple ID this time. And, if get the option of ” reset it with your Apple ID”. click on it.

1. If you are needed to create a new key in order to store the user’s password. Then click ok and your Mac will restart.
2. If it asked for an admin user, click on ” Forgotten all Passwords?”.
